The first Helensburgh Rugby section vice-president coincided with the formation of Helensburgh Cricket and Rugby Football Club in 1972. Rugby had been established among players in the town, however, since 1963 albeit they initially played Shawlands’ 3rd XV fixtures. See Club History for more details.
